“A June bride is a bride forever.”
It’s one of the most beloved sayings in the world of weddings—and for good reason. As spring gives way to summer, the world is in full bloom, and so is love. At 1884 On The Bluff, we’ve come to adore the soft magic that May and June bring. The air is full of promise, the fields are lush and green, and the sunsets feel like they were painted just for two.
But did you know that the tradition of a June wedding dates all the way back to Roman times?
The Goddess Juno and the Origin of the June Bride
In ancient Rome, the month of June was named after Juno, the goddess of marriage and protector of women. She was said to bless those who married in her month with lifelong happiness and fertility. This belief carried forward through generations, evolving into the idea that a June bride is destined for a joyful marriage.
Even today, that sentiment lingers like the scent of wildflowers on a warm breeze. There’s just something about June.
Why May and June Are Our Favorite Months
Each season writes its own love story... But there's something about May and June.
Here on the Bluff, May and June bring:
Peonies and daisies just starting to stretch toward the sun
Mild, golden weather perfect for outdoor ceremonies
Fireflies that begin to flicker by nightfall
A soft breeze that lifts the veil and stirs the soul
It’s the season of possibility and poetry—and it creates the most romantic backdrop for your vows.
